The former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode was at The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He was invited for questioning relating to the forgery of a medical report which he was said to have procured to evade his trial before a Federal High Court in Lagos.
The Officials of the anti-graft confirmed this to reporters on Monday in Lagos. In the company of his Lawyer, Fani-Kayode arrived at the Lagos Office of the commission by 1 pm. Fani-Kayode is standing trial before Justice Daniel Osiagor of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos over an alleged N4.6 billion fraud. He was charged by the EFCC alongside a former Minister of Finance, Nenadi Usman, and others on 17 counts of conspiracy, money laundering, and fraud.
He failed to appear in court for his re-arraignment following the transfer of Justice Rilwan Aikawa, on October 13. Fani-Kayode sent a letter to the court instead of appearing claiming his doctors had placed him on bed rest. A preliminary investigation of the EFCC confirmed that the medical report sent by Fani-Kayode was forged.
