Some Chinese nationals have been cracked down by Authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for illegalities in the country such as prostitution and the use of fake documents. Whilst two of the offenders are identified as Ye Jingpeng and Lili Bin have been sentenced to ten years in prison, others have been fined for their crime.
A high court in the country found Ye Jingpeng and Lili Bin in breach of the law after procuring fellow Chinese women as prostitutes in DRC. The presiding prosecutor stated the 2 have been earning money from organizing the sexual exploitation of young Chinese women in several cities.
Nicky Bayo, the lawyer of Ye Jingpeng and Lili Bin said on Saturday that they have been sentenced to ten years and three months in prison for procurement regarding Chinese women and the use of fake documents.
A Congolese foreign ministry civil servant was also sentenced to ten years in prison for having issued courtesy visas without the authority to do so, Nicky informed reporters.
Other offenders have been equally fined for violating immigration laws. Each of the offenders has been charged a thousand dollars. This includes eight Chinese women on an irregular stay who have been ordered to pay a thousand dollars each, the lawyer stated. “Some other 23 Chinese women were acquitted for loss of evidence,” the lawyer stated.
