The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu invited some EndSARS protesters to a peace walk for “the healing of Lagos” in December. He invited Folarin Falana aka Falz and Debo Adebayo aka Mr Marcaroni but they refused the invitation.
During a speech on Tuesday on Lekki shootings of October 20, 2020. The governor stated, “In December, I will be leading A WALK FOR PEACE to herald the healing of our land. Let me use this occasion to extend an open invitation to our youths, members of the diplomatic corps, civil society groups, students and the media as well as other stakeholders to join me.”
Amongst those invited by the Governor for the peace walk are Falana, Adebayo, Dele Farotimi, Temitope Majekodunmi, Segun Awosanya aka Segalink, Adedotun aka Just Detoun, Seun Kuti; Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu; and Commander of Rapid Response Squad CSP Yinka Egbeyemi.
The Governor additionally stated that the white paper on the EndSARs Judicial Panel of Inquiry report would be released, saying “As an administration, we are determined that the next steps that will be taken in this process of coming to terms with the events of October 2020, must bring closure to a painful episode in the history of our state, with the release of the White Paper later today.”
However, a number of those invited by the Governor to the walk took to Twitter to decline the invitation. They instead urged the Governor to implement the recommendations of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry and end police brutality.
